Cut bread, muffin, bagels etc. on ribbed side of the board and use the plane side for cutting meat,

veal, fruits, vegetables, nuts etc.  (Use plastic mat on the board for cutting fish and chicken.)

Oiled in olive oil and put oil on the board when it appears dry to prevent splitting.
